| I been busy as hell this past month! You
all know that I am a huge fan of the reality show "Big Brother"
and this the best season ever. However, this is also an exciting
time watching the horrible reality being played out in the
nations capital. I am trying to keep up with both and it ain't
easy. The thing that is striking me the most is how the two of
them parallel each other almost to the letter. The premise of Big Brother come from a brilliant novel by George Orwell published in 1949. It focuses on a repressive totalitarian regime in the future of England. It follows the life of a normal citizen named Winston Smith, who works in civil service. His job is to falsify records and political literature for the government. He disillusioned with the system and begins a rebellion which leads to his arrest and torture. In the novel, the peoples televisions were used both ways. They watched programs (only government propaganda) and the government (who was known as Big Brother) was watching them. Their every move in the privacy of their home was scrutinized by the government thru the two way television sets. Further every citizen was encouraged to report to Big Brother on any speech or action by their neighbors that was a negative about the government. In the TV show Big Brother, 14 people called houseguests were put in the house and they are on camera 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Live feeds stream thru Real player to anyone who wishes to subscribe to Super pass. The voice from the walls that dictates their very existence is Big Brother. Big Brother supplies their food, shelter, heat, air and every thing else about their lives in the house. They have no radio, TV, newspapers or magazines. No contact with the outside world what so ever. All they know of the world is what Big Brother chooses to tell them. Now think about what is going on the real world. Change BB to DC! Every move we make under the present administration is watched. They have a special email address at the White House where you are being encouraged to tattle on your neighbors. And by law, anything that comes into the White House can NEVER be erased. If you disagree with all the taking away of rights, spending money that they don't have or threatening to jail the people who have kept us safe since 2001, your name will go on a list that will be there forever. Cameras are everywhere, your every move is being watched and if we allow the bastards to pass the health care bill, they will control whether you live or die. Watch the show, read the book and decide for yourself that George Orwell was gifted with incredible sight into the future. His math was off though. He missed it by 25 years.
